Jamie and Andrew: there really aren’t enough sweet things I can say about these two! Their love started with acquaintanceship, grew to friendship, and now here they are, waiting to pledge their lives and love to each other just one month from today!
The first time Jamie and I met, she invited me over to her little Victoria apartment. It just weeks before she would be making the big move up to Port Hardy, where she and Andrew will be married, and where they will live following the wedding! Her enthusiastic personality won me over right away and we quickly connected over a network of mutual friends and a shared faith in Jesus. Jamie’s faith is one of the things I admire so much about her; she just glows with love and it is infectious! To see her marrying a man who shares this same strong faith brings me such joy!
As we sat on her cozy couch, she unravelled the beautiful love story of “Jamie & Andrew”; how they had been a part of the same Bible study group a few years ago, but how it was a completely “friends only” situation. Andrew ended up moving out of Victoria, and in the process, realized he wanted to start an organization to help people all over the world (more on this in future posts, I’m sure, as this organization is in its early stages right now!). Andrew asked Jamie to be on the board for this organization and called her up once a month or so to “talk business”. Eventually the phone calls were every couple of weeks…and then every week…and soon enough, the phone calls were coming in with such frequency that Jamie knew something deeper was taking place!
With every phone call, Jamie started noticing the new feelings she had for Andrew, but she still had some hesitations about letting these feelings grow. “Because I hadn’t seen him in so long, I started to wonder and pray about funny things like: God, is Andrew taller than me? Is he funny? — I couldn’t remember some of these things!”
It wasn’t until Andrew invited Jamie to drive up to Port Hardy with him that these two actually started talking about taking their relationship past the friendship stage. That was September 2010; jump ahead to January 2011, and Andrew found himself on one knee, proposing to Jamie at Beacon Hill Park!
When I met with Jamie, we talked all about wedding photography and what she’d love to have her own wedding photography represent.
“Well, I really like the kissing photos. I really, really like those ones,” she said, eyes all a twinkle! “We’re waiting to kiss each other for the first time on our wedding day!”
Needless to say, this sort of a goal requires a ton of willpower, and I have so much respect for how these two are honouring that inent! During their engagement session, I could feel the excitement in the air as Jamie & Andrew count down to their wedding day and their first kiss! Jamie suggested Fleming Beach for their session, with a little bit of Beacon Hill Park and a nearby James Bay street full of cherry blossoms for good measure!
Everything was perfect for images at the beach! Gorgeous blue hues, dramatic clouds, and a couple very much in love!
Jamie, you are way too gorgeous! I love that you brought along a hat for some variety in your photos!Doesn’t Jamie’s smile just say it all in this next image? Love it!
I’m pretty sure I said something along the lines of “Just be all about Jamie right now!” to Andrew while I was taking the image below. If I remember correctly, Jamie’s immediate reaction was “Yes! I like that! Be all about me, Andrew!”
This is where it all happened back in January! The official engagement location at Beacon Hill Park!
Jamie & Andrew, I completely adore you both, and I am ecstatic to be making the trek up to Port Hardy, BC, to photograph your wedding (and first kiss) next month! Thank you for sharing your love story with me and for being such a blessing in my life; I’m so honoured to call you friends!
